The German-Bahamian Hybrid Centre for Demonstration, Capacity Building and Application of Technologies of Renewable Energy Sources (RES), Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Mobility has been distinguished by the National Globe Award Bahamas, only half a year after being commissioned.

The Award is considered as the most prestigious environmental prize worldwide. It is granted by the Energy Globe Foundation in cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), among many others. The jury consists of representatives from all five continents.

This year’s competition was served by more than 2,000 projects from 182 countries. The Award honoured the German technology providing enterprises bioltec systems GmbH and SUNfarming GmbH as well as their local partner 700 Islands Energy Ltd. for the joint project named „The Hybrid Center Bahamas – Green My Generation“ at Windsor High School Albany, Nassau.

The creative initiator for this type of hybrid centres, making use of German expertise and approved technologies in favour of solving simultaneously several development problems in southern countries, was the Foerdergesellschaft Erneuerbare Energien e.V. The association contributed also in establishing the cluster and took part in elaborating the basic concept for the application in the dena-Renewable-Energy-Solutions-Program within the framework of the “Energy Export Initiative” of the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, realized on behalf of the German Bundestag (Federal Parliament).

Basic concept, cluster and technologies on the German side might be adopted flexibly and scalably to locations on islands or on continental sites as well as on the need and potential of local partners.

Do not hesitate to contact us. We are ready to consider your request jointly with you and our innovative cluster.
